About Ellen
I am a trained Primary School Teacher, with 5 years recent experience teaching children in Years 1-3. I have a recent microcredential in structured literacy through the University of Canterbury, as well as hands-on experience with the relevant assessment systems and teaching methods. I build rapport quickly and easily with students, and make sure children feel safe, supported, successful, and engaged throughout the learning process. I really value partnering with parents, so they know what their child's learning gaps are, how to support at home, and how to advocate for their child at school.

* I tutor children at the Years 1-4 levels of the New Zealand curriculum (ages 5-10 years). * I employ a systematic, structured, evidence-based approach to teaching Reading, Writing, and Math. This ensures strong foundational knowledge to set each child up for success at higher learning levels. * I include children's interests and strengths into lessons, and ensure they leave each lesson with a sense of success. * The typical length of a session is 30 minutes. I understand the need for children to move, so the sessions are broken up with short, quick movement breaks, to support sustained focus for the 30 minutes. * I am open to small group tutoring up to 3 students, if children have similar learning needs.
