About Lorna
I am a Primary School teacher with 2 years of experience in Year 1; I also have 1 years experience tutoring children in Year 5 to reach Met for their end of year targets.
Prior to training as a Primary school teacher, I worked with young carers, helping to support them through their education. This involved giving them support with their caring role and helping them fulfill their academic potential. As a result of enjoying seeing the young carers blossom, I was encouraged to use my TEFL training to teach in underprivileged schools in both Thailand and South Korea.

I follow a child led approach when teaching and feel that investing time building a trusting relationship with the children I am teaching is valuable. Children learn best when they feel safe. I build their learning around their interests while following the growth mindset model of learning - that making mistakes is not something to fear, but something to help improve our learning. The children I teach respond well to this; it not only boosts their confidence, but encourages them to want to explore and challenge themselves with their learning.
