About Maxine
Hi, my name is Maxine, nice to meet you! - I’m a student contest organizer, member in student council, and experienced math tutor, with a top 7% Gauss achievement and ongoing AMC10 prep. - I'm really excited to meet you or your children and provide help along the journey. - I help students of ALL LEVELS build strong problem-solving skills, and approach math creatively. - I add real contest questions in the lesson to provide a realistic idea of what contests look like and help students gain confidence. (Contests ARE NOT THAT SCARY!!!) - I encourage students to think independently. First, we will have an example question that I'll make sure students understand. In practice questions, I'll assist students with HINTS but NOT DIRECT ANSWERS. - Lessons are structured, friendly, and specialized to each student’s pace, whether you want to strengthen school math or prepare for contests.

Who are my lessons for?
Lessons are for ALL LEVELS of students in Grades 4–9 who want to strengthen their math foundation, improve problem-solving skills, or prepare for math contests like Gauss or Fryer or Galois or AMC8.
Teaching approach:
I focus on building strong problem-solving skills rather than formula memorization. Lessons that help understanding concepts and applying them creatively&flexbily, like in math contests. I break problems into manageable steps, and encourage students to think independently.
What Sets Me Apart:
I combine experience as a student contest organizer with real contest questions, giving students exposure to both standard curriculum problems and creative contest-style questions. I adapt to each student’s level, ensuring lessons are challenging but achievable.
