About Alexander Thomas
I am an outgoing and enthusiastic man with a great enthusiasm for foreign languages, travel, international affairs and the great outdoors!.
I studied Spanish and French for business at Oxford Brookes university, graduating in 2006.
During my degree I did a work placement at the head office of Habitat furniture in Barcelona.
After that I moved to Buenos Aires for 4 years where I did an interior design project.
For most of my adult life i've been a language teacher, translator and interpreter.
I'm married with a 5-year- old daughter and i'm a keen sailor, swimmer and cyclist. Other interests include architecture, gardening and playing squash.

40-year-old linguist from Devon named Tom gives Spanish classes to prepare for holidays, business travel, expatriation or just for the fun of learning the language.
Classes are based primarily on communication, everyday phrases and building an understanding of how the language works.
The tutor will teach you how to ask and reply to practical questions, express your feelings and opinions and read the general Spanish words and phrases you will come across in day-to-day life in a Spanish speaking country.
Confidence in conversation is often taught with the use of role plays, games and exam style oral questions that encourage long and detailed descriptions and storytelling.
Ultimately, real conversations are based on questions and answers, speaking and listening.
Depending on your desires and interests, classes include an academic reading part, covering a variety of texts including literature, current affairs and the hispanic business and cultural worlds.
For students who already have a conversational level of Spanish and wish to practise and improve, Tom would be more than happy to help.
All material including a lined notebook are provided. Student's own material and topics are also most welcome.
Classes are held in the comfort of your own home!

Details
Students who commit to a class package ideally pay for them all up front to gain a 5% discount for 5 classes or a 10% discount for 10 classes, but are not obliged to do so.
The first 30 minutes are free and if the student wishes to carry on for another 30 minutes I charge 10 pounds and we can talk about how we take it on from there.
