About David
As a First-Class graduate in Product and Industrial Design from Central Saint Martins, I bring a strong understanding of design principles, material processes, and creative thinking. I take a professional, structured approach to tutoring, creating a space where students feel supported, motivated, and challenged to reach their full potential. I believe Design and Technology is a very valuable subject on the curriculum for free thinkers, not just for those interested in engineering. It's an empowering field to learn for anyone looking to explore creative problem-solving, critical thinking, and real-world application. My goal is to help students see the wider potential of the subject and to give them the confidence to express their ideas clearly and with purpose. Each session is tailored to the student’s goals, whether that’s building stronger exam technique, developing coursework, or deepening their understanding of design theory. I bring the same energy and attention to detail to tutoring as I do to my own design work, making sure students feel engaged, heard, and prepared.

My tutoring approach is focused on building confidence, creativity, and strong critical thinking skills. I tailor each session to the student’s exam board and learning style, blending theory with practical examples from real-world design and industry. I use sketching, design analysis, and interactive questioning to reinforce key concepts like materials, manufacturing, and user-centred design. Lessons are typically 60-90 minutes long and structured around key curriculum topics, with time for discussion, Q&A, and project guidance. I also support students with coursework planning, sketchbook development, and portfolio reviews. I hold a First Class BA (Hons) degree in Product and Industrial Design from Central Saint Martins UAL, an A* at A Level and a Grade 9 in GCSE in the AQA Syllabus. My lessons are suitable for KS4 and KS5 students preparing for exams, aiming to improve coursework and portfolio building for university applications.
