Where do I even begin? Well, Susanne is the absolute best of best and I cannot recommend her highly enough.

When I first came to this platform, I knew that I needed a teacher who was something very special. This is because I needed someone who could adapt themself to what I needed. I am a dual national (British and Swedish) and I'm a near native speaker of Swedish, but I was born and raised in the UK and, at times, I find I am missing certain words and expressions because there are settings where I have simply never been required to speak Swedish.

Swedish is a language I speak with family, parishioners at the Swedish Church, and on holiday back in Sweden. I speak the language well in those contexts but sometimes I hit a wall once the conversation strays into areas of my life where I do not tend to use Swedish. So, my reason for wanting to source a Swedish teacher was so I could start to overcome some of those "walls".

Susanne has been amazing at helping me to achieve that objective. I will attempt to explain why although I doubt I will fully be able to do her justice.

Well, to start with, Susanne is knowledgeable, helpful, encouraging, friendly, approachable, and empathetic. These are all great characteristics in a teacher.

What is more, Susanne is person-centred in her approach to learning which has been perfect for what I have wanted to achieve. You see, I did not want to do all the usual language class stuff. That would not have served me because I had a solid understanding of Swedish grammar well before I approached Susanne and instead I wanted to grow in confidence.

This was a learning aim that I do not think just any teacher would have been able to support me with. It was kind of nebulous as learning aims go, and I did not envy Susanne having to take me on as a student, because what I wanted to achieve was more about working through my subjective feelings of not being good enough than it was about achieve some kind of tangible objective that we could work towards using textbooks. Even I could see how what I was asking for was a bit of a tall order.

However, Susanne totally got what I wanted to achieve and together we created an approach to learning that was truly collaborative. I should add at this point that I am neurodivergent and Susanne has this intuitive way of working with someone like myself that makes the learning process feel not only accessible but also hugely enjoyable and entertaining. Truly, she is a teacher who knows how to adapt her teaching style to the needs of the individual.

My lessons with Susanne have left me feeling much more confident in my spoken Swedish, which is exactly where I wanted to be. Not only that, but the lessons themselves have genuinely put a spring in my step. Susanne is so warm and charismatic that it is hard to leave one of her lessons without a smile on your face.

I really do not know what else to say at this point except this: if you are mmm and ahh-ing over whether to employ Susanne, then don't. She's brilliant and you will have no regrets.

I've had a wonderful experience learning Swedish with Susanne. She is incredibly attentive, always picking up on the areas where I need more support and adjusting lessons accordingly.

What really stands out is how proactive she is, sending helpful resources such as radio segments and news articles she thinks I would find interesting. On top of that, she is very considerate and patient, creating a comfortable environment that makes learning easy and enjoyable. I highly recommend her to anyone looking to make real progress with Swedish.

I really look forward to my weekly lesson with Susanne - she is very intuitive and has created just the right mix of learning for me: grammar/speaking/listening/using the textbooks.
