It’s my absolute pleasure and honor to recommend Sunny Yu as an excellent tutor for your consideration.
A wonderful teacher once told me that, “the most important thing a teacher can do for their students is to inspire them.” If one had to choose just a single word to describe Sunny’s teaching style, it would be just that, inspiring.
I have been a student of Sunny’s for almost 3 years. He was my teacher for physics, and has continued to be a source of knowledge and inspiration for me subsequently.
Sunny radiates a joy for the subjects he teaches. More importantly, he is able to channel this joy towards his students: “Don’t you find this amazing? Isn’t it incredible that nature acts this way?” These are examples of the heartfelt feelings that Sunny can be found conveying, both literally and through the content and style of his instruction. His enthusiasm is infectious and inspiring.
Mathematics and Physics are a difficult, humbling, and at times arduous subjects. It can lead to a student feeling deflated at different points. A teacher like Sunny is an invaluable antidote to such feelings. Physics and Mathematics often present difficult mountains for any student to climb, and difficult journeys for a teacher to lead. It takes a teacher like Sunny, who is impeccably experienced and knowledgeable, to help a student successfully navigate these difficult topics. But experience and knowledge are not enough. An exceptional teacher invests significant time to refine their knowledge, in order that they can convey this knowledge to their students in an understandable fashion. The difference between knowing something and explaining it, is one of dedication and hard work. Sunny consistently demonstrates this dedication and hard work for his students. More than helping convey the subject matter in a clear and understandable manner, this hard work is another source of inspiration that Sunny provides to his students: it’s clear to his students that Sunny invests hard work for them, and as a student of his, I can say that I’ve witnessed and felt how this dedication has inspired students, including myself, to work harder in mastering this difficult subject.
Whenever I sit down to learn with Sunny, there is always a feeling of confidence that I am being led on a difficult but fulfilling journey by a trusted guide. It’s as if he is constantly conveying:
"I've been through this journey before and I've been through your confusion. I found a way and I'll help you find the path through it: You'll be fine, let's go."
Sunny is a knowledgeable, experienced teacher. He is a teacher who I and many other students trust to help us find success and joy in our studies. Importantly, the thoughts I wrote above are not simply my own. The observations were mirrored by many other students in my discussions with them and reflected in the enthusiasm I observed whenever Sunny teachers.
Sincerely,
Ron Shaeffer

P.S. That wonderful teacher who told me that inspiration is the most valuable quality for a teacher is that same teacher who guided me through the difficult mountains of physics and mathematics.Sunny has been the most exceptional tutor I ever had. He taught me Maths from scratch when I arrived in the UK a year before my GCSEs with no knowledge of both Mathematics and English. In this year, not only have I excelled in GCSE Maths and Further Maths achieving A* in both, but also developed a strong passion for the subject. His infectious enthusiasm and rigorous approach simplified otherwise complex ideas into something very elementary and easily accessible. His unique manner of teaching encouraged questioning and critical thinking as a result of which I had attained indepth understanding of not only GCSE maths, but also concepts from A-levels.
We continued tutoring sessions during my A-levels, where I achieved A* in Maths (again!) and we started to focus more heavily on Physics. I currently study Mathematics at Lancaster University and I can honestly say this wouldn't be possible without Sunny. We still keep in touch to share ideas and concepts from both Maths and Physics. He is one of the most dedicated people I've ever met who goes above and beyond to ensure student's understanding and comfort in their academic career.
Feel free to contact me at a.ergashev@lancaster.ac.uk if you want more information, because I can't possible describe how significant his role was in my education here alone.View more recommendations
