About Matteo
I've worked as a guitar and musical theory professor for 20 years now, in Italy. I've taught privately and in three music schools, with students of any age and level. From young students approaching for the first time guitar and music (that's why I've always given complete attention to the right technical approach), to adults wanting to grow in their favorite hobby to serious students wanting to reach professional goals. My own studies are quite varied, having a classical guitar degree, one degree in philosophy (but specialised in pedagogy), a classical composition diploma from a fantastic french school (Polyphonies.fr) and a Master in Scoring for Film, Television and Videogames from the Berklee College of Music. I'm living in Spain since two years now and regularly studying spanish at the Escola Oficial de Idiomas, so my linguistic competence is more than sufficient for giving normal classes. Of course, classes can be given also in English.

In my guitar class I'd like the student to develop his theory and technique skill to the point where he can develop and master his own repertoire in complete freedom.
As a professor I try to broaden the variety of music that the student listens to but, on the other side, the lessons are based on songs and compositions chosen together with the student, being the goal the complete comprehension and technical mastery of such songs and compositions.
The study of theory and rhythmic reeding (made on the instrument) have as a goal the complete comprehension of the musica style of the pieces eventually proposed by the student or chosen with the professor. Attention will be given to the analysis of rhythm and harmony of every piece studied during the lesson.
Technique will be studied with two guidelines in mind: developing dexterity and coordination to the point where any piece will be correctly mastered with great attention to the correcto approach both using fingers or pick.
That's why the rules of the "right technical approach" will be flexible, according to the style of the music that will be studied.
On the other hand great attention will be given to understanding guitar keyboard both for reading and improvisation purposes.
We're living in a time of synthesis of different musical languages (Rock, Jazz, Classical) and that why the "grammar of the instrument" is so important to be able to cross musica genres.
As already said, the lessons will be based on music and songs chosen together with the teacher. Every song will be analysed under every aspect, to reach its complete comprehension.
The study of any guitar part will have as a goal both its right execution and understanding its function, its technical difficulty or any theoretical aspect implied.
The final goal is to allow the student build a personal language coherent with the preferred style of music.
That's why attention will be given also to the sound, technical language and phrasing of every guitarist that will be studied during the lessons, so that the student can develop his own musical vocabulary.

Perfect! Hace 20 años desde que comencé a estudiar guitarra eléctrica y este año 2024 me animé a retomar el aprendizaje formal del instrumento. Contacté con Matteo a través de esta plataforma y estoy encantado con sus clases. Estamos abarcando aspectos de armonía moderna, técnica, acordes, tono. Sus clases son muy completas y la metodología es personalizada. Te recomiendo que contactes con él si buscas un buen profesor de guitarra, en sentido amplio.
