About Garnet
I have been playing guitar for over a decade now. Although I majored in jazz trombone at University, I took jazz guitar as a second instrument. I have years of experience teaching the guitar at all skill levels, and I've been playing bass for about 6 years. Although I studied jazz at University, I am a huge fan of alternative music such as rock and metal. I have my grade 8 in classical trombone, but I majored in jazz performance and composition at University. I have years of experience performing in the classical, jazz, and contemporary popular music scenes in South Africa.
I believe that music is an essential part of life. Music has the power to move people in an inexplicable and unparalleled way. Whether you listen to music, study music, or perform music, music has a profound way of enriching our everyday lives. My goal as a teacher is to equip my students with the tools necessary to express themselves through music, and in doing so, aid in enriching their lives.

Each of the lessons is catered specifically to the students needs and current ability. Having immersed myself in many different styles of music over the years, I feel that I am aptly equipped to teach any style of music, at almost any level.
One of my passions is music theory. If you're someone who struggles with music theory, or struggles to relate it to the practice of music, I believe these lessons are for you. I try to integrate theory into my practical lessons, in an attempt to bridge the gap between the two.
Although discipline and dedication is required to learn any instrument, in my lessons, I try to emphasise that enjoying the process is arguably the most important factor.
I am proficient in English as well as Afrikaans, and would behappy to teach in either. I offer 60 min, 45min, and 30min lessons.
