About David
I'm a professional trombonist based in the USA. I perform mostly with orchestras in the Northeast (Columbus, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Rochester) but I also work frequently with orchestras abroad. I studied music at Duquesne University (BA) and at the Royal Academy of Music in London (PGdip). I've performed with many leading orchestras across the UK, Scandinavia, and USA, including the Royal Philharmonic (London), BBC Symphony, Royal Opera of Copenhagen, Aalborg and Odense Symphony Orchestras (Denmark), Cincinnati Symphony, Columbus Symphony, and Rochester Philharmonic. In addition, I am an adjunct professor of low brass at Cedarville University, in Cedarville, Ohio.

My approach is to convey the fundamentals of brass pedagogy and reading/playing music.
With regard to brass technique, we'll focus primarily on production of tone, embouchure, breath efficiency, posture and clarity of articulation. This is really what professionals focus on: doing the basics at an excellent level.
With regard to reading music, I primarily focus on the basics of pitch, rhythm and pulse. Once you get solid on these concepts, we'll start to work on more nuanced things, like dynamic, phrasing, expression. But as with brass technique, I always focus on fundamentals first.
I have many years experience teaching all brass instruments at all ages and ability levels. So whether you're an absolute beginner or a professional, I can help you along your musical journey.
