About Ethan

Within my life, I blend academic rigor with a passion for nurturing curiosity. My love for problem solving (from cracking complex equations to conquering board game challenges with friends) fuels my belief that resilience, curiosity, and creativity are keys to mastering how to learn.

My hobbies (which include motorbike riding, tennis and being an amateur novelist) have taught me the correct balance of adaptability and focus, skills I bring to every lesson to keep students engaged, but not stressed.

Tutoring, for me, is about empowering my community. By helping students unlock their potential, I aim to create ripples of positive change right where I live. Whether guiding a shy learner through physics paradoxes or demystifying the real world magic of gravity measuring experiments for black holes (yes, even those involving lasers inside of 2km long vacuum tubes!), I prioritize empathy and endless patience. My students know they’re in a judgment free zone where questions are celebrated, and mistakes become doorways to self improvement instead of insurmountable obstacles.

I thrive on making STEM tangible, like explaining how everyday tech ties to lessons learned within classrooms, and I live by Isaac Newton’s wisdom: “If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” To me, this quote means the people in my life have worked to help build me up to be better than themselves, and I now work to help those around me so they can, and will, be better than me. Together, we’ll build knowledge, and reach new heights, let us turn “I can’t” into “I did!”

Techniques & Methodology:
I prioritize a personally invested, student-centered approach that adapts to individual learning styles. Lessons blend conceptual clarity (through visual aids, analogies) with hands-on problem solving. I emphasize real world applications in STEM to spark curiosity and provide detailed notes for parents and students post session to help track progress and set goals. Lesson Length: In my experience 1.5 hours is optimal for deep dives into complex topics to maintain engagement while not overloading students. However I understand all students are different and lesson length can be customized for each student I take on as a tutor.

Qualifications/Experience:
I am a final year Biomedical Science student with 1500+ tutoring hours (1-on-1, group, and boarding school classes) with experience helping students with personal obstacles affecting learning outcomes.
Affiliated with a prominent educational organization, supporting both school programs and private students. Expertise in STEM subjects (Math, Chemistry, Physics, Biology) for Grades: Kindergarten – Year 12, I am also great at building a passion for learning English Grades: Kindergarten – year 10. Who Are My Lessons For? Tailored for Kindergarten – Year 12 students seeking to build confidence and mastery in STEM subjects or develop a passion in English. Whether catching up, excelling ahead, or preparing for exams, my holistic support includes custom progress reports and flexible scheduling to align with family needs.

Core Philosophy:
I believe learning thrives in a caring, personalized, and curiosity friendly environment. I focus not just on grades but on fostering critical thinking, resilience, and a genuine love for STEM and English. I am tough but empathetic with my students and I believe in a lead by example approach.
