About Mohammad

Experienced in teaching Chemistry, and Physics from pre-GCSE to A-level and teaching Biology from pre-GCSE to GCSE level. I am a Chemistry/Physics specialist with a degree background in Chemical Engineering from the University of Manchester (Bachelor's degree and Master's degree). I taught students one2one in private tuition and I also taught Science in secondary schools as a full-time teacher. I have a patient, friendly, and easy-going personality. I always believe that the best way to learn is to stick to the challenging concepts or questions right until the end (not giving up). My role as a tutor is to motivate you enthusiastically and guide as you learn from your mistakes and become competent in the topic in a safe and friendly environment at your own pace. We all learn at different paces and have different styles. My tutoring lessons always embody this style, and therefore help to reinforce what is taught in school and provide strategies to overcome your challenges in the subject. I also positively reward and highlight your achievements and strengths. We will build on these strengths even more, during our tutoring lessons. I look forward to meeting you soon :).

All my lessons can be easily adapted to the national curriculum in Northern Ireland and England (depending on the student requirements and location). I plan my tutoring lessons from the CCEA exam specification document at GCSE and A-level in Northern Ireland. In England, I plan my tutoring lessons from the specification developed by AQA at GCSE and A-level. I am also aware of the international IGCSE curriculum (Cambridge examinations for O-levels and A-levels) and I taught IGCSE students based in Cairo, Egypt. I am a patient, empathetic and understanding tutor who will tailor the session to meet the needs of the student. I follow a question-learning approach, where the main focus is to use exam-style questions as practice and to identify areas for improvement. I generally run my lessons at school-level by having an introductory 5-minute fun ice-breaker activity (e.g. mini-quiz or quick puzzle or real-world applications), then the focus (40 minutes) of the lesson on the student's school homework or current topic being studied at school and then I close off by setting new questions (15 minutes) to see if the knowledge has been digested. I have a flexible approach to tutoring and the student is encouraged to stop me at any time if they need me to go over a particular concept one more time. Practice-based learning via questions/examples: I enjoyed simplifying complex concepts to students and relating them to day-to-day examples, models, analogies and mnemonics. I try to identify the methodology used during questions and suggest alternative correct and quicker methodologies to my students. Thus, giving them more time to practice at their own pace and achieve their target. I do my best to promote a 'can-do' relaxed/friendly attitude, where mistakes are welcome. This can help students develop a good work ethic (regardless of talent/innate ability). Practice helps to make the concepts easier to memorise (not just understood) and achieve targets.
