About Laura
I am a passionate writer who puts words to paper every day. I am equally passionate about sailing and water sports and when I'm not writing I'm on the water. My love of teaching stems from a belief that everyone has something unique to say and with support can learn to express themselves in powerful ways. I enjoy helping students navigate the seemingly complex requirements of primary, secondary and tertiary education in New Zealand, making assignments seem straightforward and achievable. My focus is on enhancing each student's independent thinking and original voice.

My teaching methodology involves generating a deep understanding of what the student is being asked to do, and talking through an original, creative, well-written response that the student can be proud of. This involves many fun techniques to engage the student's thinking in out-of-the-box ways. Typical lesson length is 40-80 minutes.
I have over 30 years experience teaching literacy as a primary and high school teacher, and also as a university tutor, plus 10 years in journalism as a feature writer. My lessons are suited to all ages and levels of experience.
