About Amy
My name is Amy Ma, and I am dedicated to helping you achieve your language goals with confidence and proficiency. With a background in English education, I bring a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of success to our lessons.
I am currently seeking a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, and Behaviour from McMaster University, and I have an International Baccalaureate diploma completed in 2021. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of students, from high school learners aiming for academic excellence in numerous topics. My teaching philosophy centers on creating a supportive and interactive learning environment where each student feels valued and motivated.

1. My Personal Teaching Methodology and Techniques
- Interactive Learning: I believe in interactive and student-centered approaches, including open-ended discussions and brainstorming sessions, as well as problem-solving activities.
- Differentiated Instruction: I adapt my teaching methods to cater to the students' diverse learning styles and needs, ensuring each student achieves their academic goals.
- Formative Assessment: I like to regularly assess students’ understanding through quizzes and feedback/editing sessions to guide instruction.
2. What a Typical Lesson Plan Looks Like (30-60 min)
- Greetings + Introduction (5-10 minutes): Brief welcoming to check in on the students' wellbeing, as well as a discussion to review previous material and summarize objectives to be covered in the lesson.
- Assessment/Activity (20-40 minutes): Explore any homework or concepts that the student is struggling with; assess skills from previous sessions by using practice problems and assessments.
- Review and Homework (5-10 minutes): Summarize key points from the session, address any questions, and assign relevant homework or practice activities for students to improve on throughout the week.
