About David
From 2017, I have been tutoring English and Afrikaans as both first and second languages to primary school learners. Upon the completion of my degree in 2019, I left for China where I have taught English as a foreign language to learners aged three to fourteen. I have taught English there for over five years before coming back to South Africa. Ever since I started tutoring in 2017, I knew that teaching is the career path I would like to follow for the rest of my life. No matter whether you are young or old, we learn through interest.

All individuals have different ways of learning, especially with learning a language as there are multiple skills to acquire. There are four skills which need to be learned to learn a language and the most important ones are listening and speaking. In my class, I believe it's important to give the student most of the talking time as this is the best way of learning a language. The languages I am proficient to teach are English, being a native speaker, and Afrikaans. As I follow the PPP method (present, practice and produce), this allows for ample time for the students to practice the language during the lesson. As a teacher, little time will be used for presenting new language, however, the student will be guided throughout the lesson to practice and then freely produce. As I am both TEFL and CELTA certified, I am able to teach both adults and younger learners, with experience teaching students as young as three years old.
