About Caolan
I am empathetic and do not ridicule. I believe in creating an environment of patience and understanding. I believe this creates a much better environment for both teacher and student.
There is a lot to learn in programming, and I don't think it should be dropped on a student's head all at once. I believe in small steps and achievements, and appreciating every move forward.
Taking breaks is an inherent part of good programming, as they allow you to come back to a problem with a fresh perspective. Talking through problems and discussing solutions is a skill unto itself, and I believe to progress it's a skill that should be developed.
My pastimes are Music, Guitar, Gaming (Speedrunning), and (of course), programming.

I am currently a student lab tutor for Dublin City University, teaching undergraduate students the Python programming language. My students are entry-level, and my approach to teaching and explaining programming has always been to remember when I was a beginner programmer and explain concepts in a manner that is understandable to someone beginning their programming journey.
I think it's more important to give a student a start, rather than focus on teaching perfect programming practices from the get-go. That can come after they've developed some basic skills :).
My lessons are for beginner programmers, of any age over 12 and are a maximum of two hours.
