About Thantaswa
My name is Thantaswa Msi and I am a qualified, SACE-registered educator with a Bachelor of Education in Intermediate Phase Teaching from the University of South Africa (UNISA). isiXhosa is my home language, and I am fully fluent in English, which allows me to bridge the gap between the two languages and make learning accessible for a wide range of students.
I completed my TEFL certificate with Distinction through the TEFL Professional Institute, which deepened my understanding of language acquisition and how to teach a language effectively to those who are learning it for the first time. This, combined with my formal teaching qualification, means I bring both academic grounding and practical skill to every lesson I give.
I have experience delivering structured educational programs, supporting learners at different levels, and creating environments where students feel comfortable enough to make mistakes and grow. I am patient, encouraging, and committed to seeing every student I work with make real, measurable progress.
I believe that learning a language should feel like an achievable goal, not an overwhelming task. My job is to make it feel that way for you. Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to improve your existing isiXhosa, I will meet you where you are and help you get to where you want to be.

I offer personalized isiXhosa tutoring rooted in patience, clarity, and real communication. As a SACE-registered teacher with a BEd in Intermediate Phase Teaching from UNISA, isiXhosa is my home language and one of my formal Languages of Learning and Teaching, which means I do not just speak the language, I know how to teach it.
My approach is learner-centered. I adapt every lesson to the individual, whether that means starting with basic greetings and pronunciation, working through grammar and sentence structure, or building conversational confidence for everyday use. I combine structured explanation with practical conversation so that students learn the language the way it is actually spoken, not just on paper.
I teach in both isiXhosa and English, which allows me to explain concepts clearly to English-speaking learners without losing the authenticity of the language.
My lessons are suited to beginners through to intermediate learners, including school learners needing academic support, adults learning isiXhosa for personal or professional reasons, and anyone preparing for a language assessment. Students can expect a warm, structured, and encouraging environment where progress is tracked and lessons are tailored to their specific goals.
No two learners are the same, and my lessons reflect that.
