About Indima
My lessons are open to anyone interested in learning Japanese, whether you're a complete beginner, preparing for NCEA Level 1 Japanese, or simply interested in Japanese culture. I cater to all age groups and levels, ensuring that everyone can progress at their own pace.
I am passionate about helping students achieve their language goals in a supportive and structured environment. With my extensive experience, I offer a well-rounded approach to learning Japanese that’s both effective and enjoyable.
My Qualifications and Experience
I have passed the JLPT N2 level, which reflects my advanced proficiency in Japanese. I also had the incredible opportunity to live in Japan for two years, where I immersed myself in the language and culture. For the past two years, I’ve been teaching Japanese to beginners, helping students build a strong foundation, whether they are learning for personal interest or aiming to succeed in Japanese exams.

My Approach to Tutoring
I am passionate about helping students grasp the fundamentals of the Japanese language and culture in an engaging and supportive way. My teaching methods focus on creating a solid foundation in Hiragana and Katakana, as well as introducing the beauty of Japanese culture. I aim to guide learners who are new to the language or preparing for NCEA Level 1 Japanese.
Teaching Techniques and Methodology
I believe that learning a language should be both structured and enjoyable. My lessons incorporate:
Interactive Learning: We practice through writing and reading exercises, flashcards, and fun quizzes to reinforce Hiragana and Katakana characters.
Cultural Context: Alongside language learning, I introduce elements of Japanese culture to provide context, making the language come alive through topics like traditions, holidays, and everyday life in Japan.
Tailored Lessons: I adapt my teaching to the student's level, ensuring that both complete beginners and those looking to refine their skills feel comfortable and challenged.
Engaging Homework: I often assign light practice exercises between lessons to solidify the material learned during the session.
Typical Lesson Length
Each lesson typically lasts between 1 to 2 hours per week. This allows ample time to cover new material, review previous content, and practice key skills, all while keeping the learning process enjoyable and manageable.
