About Rachel
I am a third year secondary teacher in a Big Picture Education setting.
My undergraduate qualification is in Latin and Classical Studies (2.1 honours).
I have lived in Australia for about 12 years and have a strong working knowledge of the Western Australian (SCSA) curriculum, especially for HASS. I have a strong background in education and am flexible to different learning outcomes.
I have worked in adult education prior to secondary teaching.

Initial lessons are for me to understand my students - their confidences, things they find most difficult and how they feel they learn best. I then make agreements about how we will work - what they expect of me, and what I expect of them.
Following lessons, I will structure generally with a recap of previous learning, questions to check learning and what has been forgotten, things students are still not sure about. I try to limit the things to learn to three major points so it is easy for students to absorb the information and remember it. If the student can comfortably and confidently learn faster, we can increase. If three is too much, we decrease. I will generally try to make learning as interactive and engaging as possible.
My philosophy for learning is that everyone who is willing to learn can learn. I believe in having a two way relationship with my students - if there is a way they prefer to learn, I try to build the learning in a way that is useful for them.
