About Emma
With 20 years of teaching experience, I began my career in the classroom before discovering that my greatest impact came through personalised, one-to-one teaching. While teaching large classes, I quickly realised every pupil learns differently and at their own pace, and they deserve an approach tailored to their individual strengths, challenges and goals. Working 1:1 allows me to build confidence, unlock potential, and help my students achieve results they may not have thought possible.
I have a genuine passion for the rich, fascinating, and wonderfully quirky world of the English Language, and I love sharing that enthusiasm with my pupils. My aim is not only to improve grades, but also to help students develop a deeper understanding, appreciation, and confidence in English that stays with them long after their exams.

I have over 15 years of 1:1 experience supporting pupils of all abilities through their GCSE English language, literature, and functional skills qualifications. As a specialist English teacher, I have a proven track record of helping students significantly improve both their confidence and academic performance, enabling them to achieve, and often exceed, their target grades. Every lesson is carefully tailored to the individual pupil, ensuring sessions are engaging, supportive, and effective. I adapt my teaching style to suit each learner’s needs, whether they benefit from structured guidance, creative discussion, exam-focused practice, or confidence-building support. My lessons are designed to help pupils feel comfortable asking questions, developing independent thinking skills, and genuinely enjoying the learning process while making clear and measurable progress.
