About Alison
I have worked as a Tutor in English for Academic Purposes in the HE sector for a considerable number of years and have applied specialist knowledge of EAP teaching and learning to students of all levels in a wide range of areas on pre-sessional and in-sessional courses in both group and 1:1 settings. I now specialise in providing tailored English Language support to enable students at undergraduate and postgraduate level to develop the academic language skills that are needed for success on a degree programme.

My main priority is focusing on your individual needs and learning style. In our first session, we discuss your specific goals and develop a comprehensive, personalised plan to help you achieve them. Each lesson is then tailored to meet your needs and learning objectives as they evolve. The focus is on giving you clear, practical skills and strategies that you can immediately take away and apply. I can support you with: • Essay/dissertation planning • Researching and finding sources • Structuring paragraphs • Structuring arguments and writing critically • Integrating sources • Writing cohesively and using language accurately • Referencing • Editing and proof-reading
