About Olivia
I am a qualified Drama and English teacher with 8 years experience of working in Senior schools in Oxford, Sussex, South Africa and Surrey. I am also an Examiner for GCSE and A level Drama, which means I know the exams specifications inside out and regularly receive training on how to get the best marks in Drama. I also have experience of teaching LAMDA and can support students with preparation of verse, prose and monologue pieces for exams.
I did English Literature A Level and in my spare time I write plays, film scripts and blogs. I have taught English language and English literature in schools up to GCSE standard and would be delighted to support and inspire students in this area. I am a very warm teacher with a great sense of humour. I teach by example and model work to demonstrate the level expected. I believe it is very important to recognise different learning styles and abilities and subsequently I use a range of resources to engage and inspire my students. Olivia taught a Year 7 class of about 15 girls from September to July for one year. She had good relationships with the students and engaged them in all aspects of literacy. This involved the reading of a novel, studying a selection of poems and teaching Shakespeare. She also introduced a selection of writing tasks such as descriptive/imaginative and persuasive. She marked books accurately and regularly, giving insightful feedback.
