About Safiyyah
Hello and welcome!
I am a qualified secondary English teacher (PGCE + QTS) from University College London (UCL), ranked #1 in the world for Education, with a First-Class degree in English from Queen Mary University of London. I have several years of classroom and tutoring experience supporting students from KS3 to A-Level to grow in confidence, sharpen their analytical skills, and achieve higher grades.
What truly drives my teaching is my passion for student development. I genuinely love helping learners recognise their potential, even when they don’t yet see it themselves. I take great pride in noticing small but meaningful improvements such as clearer expression, stronger analysis, increased confidence, and using these moments to motivate students to keep progressing.
I specialise in GCSE English Language, GCSE English Literature, and A-Level English, including supporting students aiming for the top grades (7–9 / A–A*). I also enjoy working with younger learners to build strong foundations in reading, writing, and critical thinking, ensuring they feel supported rather than overwhelmed.
My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and highly personalised. I listen carefully to my students, adapt lessons to their individual needs, and create a calm, supportive environment where they feel safe to ask questions and take academic risks. I believe every student can succeed with the right guidance, belief, and structure.

I begin by getting a clear picture of my student's current strengths and areas for development. This helps me create a personalised learning plan that focuses on what they specifically need, whether that’s essay structure, reading comprehension, exam technique or confidence building. From this, I create a tailored study plan that targets:

Helped me a lot with my GCSE English language and literature work whilst I was studying Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, An Inspector Calls, and Macbeth. I couldn't have achieved a grade 9 in both language and literature without Safiyyah's help going through the analysis (in great detail) of all the different texts we had covered in class!
