About Amelia

Over 8 years of teaching guitar, I’ve learned that effective instruction combines structure with creativity and patience. Each student has unique interests and challenges, so I customize lessons to suit their personal journey. Foundational skills like finger placement, chord transitions, timing, and reading music are emphasized, but lessons also include improvisation, songwriting, and musical expression to keep learning vibrant and motivating. I connect theory to practical application by using songs that students enjoy, which helps make abstract concepts accessible. One memorable achievement was guiding a student who was initially frustrated with rhythm to confidently play in a small band performance after consistent practice and encouragement. I use technology tools such as metronomes, backing tracks, and recording software to enhance lessons and support practice outside class. Creating a warm and encouraging learning environment is essential to me, where students feel safe to make mistakes and celebrate their progress. Whether you want to play for fun, perform, or compose, I am passionate about helping you develop your skills and confidence as a guitarist.

I approach teaching Guitar as an opportunity to build something personal and lasting—something that becomes part of your identity, not just a hobby. I believe that when music connects to your real life, learning becomes deeper and more enjoyable. That’s why I always begin by learning about your interests: the music that excites you, the goals you have, and the experiences you want to create through your playing. We use that as our foundation, working on real songs and real techniques that apply directly to the music you want to make. Whether it’s learning to strum confidently, improvise solos, or write original music, I structure lessons around your journey. Motivation is central to everything I do as a teacher. When students feel inspired and can see progress, they stick with it—and they enjoy the process much more. I help you stay motivated by offering clear goals, visible improvement, and consistent encouragement. If something feels difficult or frustrating, we slow down and approach it with a problem-solving mindset. I don’t just correct mistakes—I help you understand what’s happening and why, so you gain tools you can use independently. I teach with integrity, which means I offer honest, kind, and direct feedback that supports growth without judgment. My students know they’re in a safe, encouraging space where mistakes are simply part of learning.

I also adapt to each student’s learning style—some people need patterns and structure, others thrive on creative play and intuition. I meet you where you are and build from there. Beyond Guitar, I teach related skills like beginner theory, performance readiness, and creative improvisation. Whether your goal is to casually play your favorite songs or seriously develop your craft, I’m here to support you with lessons that feel natural, thoughtful, and deeply connected to your musical voice.
