I studied with Mike for over a year, first in group classes that met twice a week on weekday evenings, and then online in individual lessons. Even after a long work day, I always looked forward to those sessions.

Mike didn’t just rely on textbooks. While we used them occasionally, most of the materials were his own, and it was clear time had always been spent on preparing the lessons. Each lesson had a clear focus but also left room for spontaneous conversation and sharing ideas, and in the online classes I was more comfortable to go at my own pace.

Mike was my English teacher at the language school in Saint Petersburg for over a year. We had group classes once a week on Saturday mornings, and I sincerely want to say that I have never gotten up with such pleasure on a weekend morning after a hard week at university! Every week I waited for our classes because it was not only about studying, but also about communication with interesting people — my classmates and Mike.

We studied using different student books but they were mostly used as extra materials, Mike came up with various lesson topics and assignments for us on his own, it was clearly seen that he did a great job of preparation every time for every single lesson!

That was about two years ago, but I still keep some handouts from that time and even use some of the teaching methods and types of assignments in my own lessons

Each topic was useful for us not only from the point of view of learning the language but it was also interesting to find out what the classmates thought about it, discuss it. We became very close as a group and studied all together for a long time.

I also want to mention Mike's individual and very attentive approach to all students, everyone received attention and had the opportunity to participate in the lesson!
