About AK
Have fun while building confidence speaking Japanese through structured, practical lessons designed for beginner to intermediate learners (JLPT N5–N3)! :)
I still remember the excitement—and the nerves—I felt when I first spoke English in Canada. Like many language learners, I worried about making mistakes and whether people would understand me.
That experience taught me that confidence grows when you feel safe to speak, make mistakes, and keep improving. That's the kind of supportive learning environment I strive to create for every student. :)
I'm a native Japanese teacher based in Japan. After two years of teaching English, I realized how much I loved helping people gain confidence through language. That inspired me to complete a Japanese Language Teacher Training Course and begin teaching my native language.
Having studied English since the age of 10, earned a TOEIC score of 960, completed an i-TESOL certification, and now learning survival Spanish myself, I truly understand both the challenges and the joy of learning a new language.
Every lesson is carefully designed to maximize your speaking time, so you'll actively use Japanese—not just listen. You'll leave each class feeling more confident and with a clear idea of what to practice next.
I look forward to helping you become a confident Japanese speaker!

★Lesson Style
In my Zoom lessons, we mainly use the GENKI textbooks. Before each lesson, I ask you to read the grammar explanations in your own language so we can focus on actively using Japanese during class. I teach mainly in Japanese (Direct Method), with English support whenever needed.
Each lesson follows a structured learning path, so you'll always know what you're learning and why.
A Typical Lesson Flow
• Warm-up conversation
• Hiragana/Katakana practice (if needed)
• Learn 1–2 new grammar points
• Guided speaking practice
• Real-life speaking using the new grammar
When helpful, I'll share personalized lesson notes with grammar corrections, useful vocabulary, and key review points to support your learning.
★You Do Most of the Talking
I believe the best way to learn a language is by using it. That's why you'll spend about 80–90% of each lesson speaking Japanese, while I guide, support, and give feedback whenever you need it.
★Mistakes are Welcome!
Mistakes are one of the fastest ways to improve. My goal is to create a positive, judgment-free environment where you feel comfortable trying, asking questions, and growing at your own pace.
★What My Students Say
"Exactly what I needed and more than I expected."
Students often mention the balance of structure, speaking practice, and encouragement.
If that sounds like the kind of learning environment you're looking for, I'd love to help you achieve your Japanese goals.
I look forward to meeting you in class! :)
