About Erin

I am a qualified Foundation Phase Education graduate with a strong passion for supporting young learners in their academic and personal development. I take pride in being reliable, organised and professional, and I approach every tutoring relationship with care, commitment and clear communication.
I have extensive experience working with children in Grades R–4, gained through multiple teaching practicals in a variety of school settings, as well as over two years of private tutoring experience. During this time, I have supported learners with Mathematics and English, homework completion, exam preparation and confidence-building. I am highly comfortable working one-on-one with children and adapting my teaching approach to suit different learning styles and abilities.
As a tutor, I am well organised and always prepared. I carefully plan each lesson, monitor learner progress, and ensure that goals are met in a structured and supportive way. I believe consistency, encouragement and clear expectations are key to helping children succeed. Parents can feel confident that I take their child’s learning seriously and that I am committed to maintaining a positive, respectful and safe learning environment.
I value open communication and professionalism and I always strive to build trusting relationships with both learners and families. My goal is not only to improve academic results but also to help children feel confident, capable, and motivated in their learning.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is learner-centred, supportive and structured, with a strong focus on building confidence alongside academic understanding. I believe children learn best when they feel comfortable, encouraged and actively involved in the learning process.
I adapt my teaching to each learner’s individual needs, using a combination of discussion, visual aids, practical activities and age-appropriate examples. I place a strong emphasis on understanding concepts rather than rote learning and I regularly check for understanding by asking guiding questions and encouraging learners to explain their thinking. I also support learners with homework, projects and exam preparation, helping them develop effective study habits and organisational skills.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes long. Each session is carefully planned and structured, usually including a short recap, focused teaching time, guided practice and a review at the end. I make sure lessons are engaging while still being goal-oriented, so learners leave feeling prepared and confident.
I hold a Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase Teaching and have extensive classroom experience in Grades R–3, gained through multiple teaching practicals in a variety of school environments. In addition, I have been working as a private tutor for over two years, supporting a learner from the Foundation Phase into Grade 4. This experience has strengthened my ability to plan effectively, track progress, and communicate clearly with families about learner development.
My lessons are suitable for Foundation Phase learners (Grades R–4, approximately ages 5–10) who need support with Mathematics and English, whether for consolidation, confidence-building, or exam preparation. I aim to create a calm, positive learning environment where each child feels supported, capable, and motivated to succeed.
