About Carole
I worked as a primary school teacher for 19 years and a tutor for 5 years, teaching English to students from reception to year 8. While working in school, I also took on the role of English co-ordinator, leading this subject throughout the school. I was able to gain valuable knowledge of the expectations and what is covered in all year groups. The best part of being a tutor is that I am able to provide lessons for specific students, taking into account their individual requirements and interests. Many of my current students have worked with me for several years, are siblings of previous students or have contacted me through recommendations.

I believe in using regular assessments, discussions with students and parents and information from schools, to plan lessons which are suited to the needs and interests of my students. Lessons can be 30 minutes to one hour long, depending on the age and requirements of students. Learning should be fun and interesting so I always ensure I include games in my lessons, when possible. I have a calm and patient approach to teaching which helps me build successful, working relationships with my students. I have worked with many students for several years, helping them to gain confidence, enjoyment and knowledge. I help with preparation for SATs and school entrance exams. I have a secure knowledge of the National Curriculum and use this to plan suitable lessons.
