About Prosper

I hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and have experience supporting students from a range of educational backgrounds and abilities. My lessons are suitable for Key Stage 3, GCSE, and A-Level students studying Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or combined science with a strong focus on developing scientific understanding, critical thinking, and exam technique.
My aim is not only to help students achieve excellent examination results but also to develop confident, independent learners who can understand, apply, and enjoy science both inside and outside the classroom.
My teaching is student-centred, structured, and tailored to individual learning needs. I take the time to identify each student's strengths, areas for development, and preferred learning style to ensure lessons are both engaging and effective. Whether a student is aiming to improve their confidence, close knowledge gaps, prepare for exams, or achieve top grades, I provide personalised support and guidance throughout their learning journey.
My lessons are carefully planned using a structured approach that includes a starter activity, knowledge phase, checking for understanding, consolidation, application, and an exit ticket. This ensures students not only learn key concepts but can also apply them confidently in examinations and real-life situations.
As an educator, I maintain high professional standards and create a supportive, respectful, and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process. I provide regular feedback, monitor progress closely, and celebrate student achievements to help build both confidence and independence.
My goal is simple: to help every student reach their full potential while making science accessible, engaging, and enjoyable.

As a qualified Science Teacher with UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), I believe that every student can succeed when learning is engaging, structured, and tailored to their individual needs. My teaching approach focuses on building confidence, developing a deep understanding of scientific concepts, and helping students apply their knowledge both in examinations and in real-life situations.
My lessons are typically 50 minutes long, although longer sessions can be arranged where necessary. Each lesson follows a carefully planned structure designed to maximise understanding, retention, and progress.
Starter
Every lesson begins with a short starter activity that revisits prior learning and activates students' existing knowledge. This may include retrieval questions, quick quizzes, exam-style recall tasks, or discussion prompts that help students connect previous topics to the new lesson.
Knowledge Phase
During this phase, new content is introduced through clear explanations, modelling, visual resources, demonstrations, and real-world examples. Complex scientific concepts are broken down into manageable steps to ensure students develop a strong foundation of understanding before moving on.
Checking Understanding
Throughout the lesson, I regularly assess understanding using targeted questioning, mini-whiteboard activities, verbal explanations, and short knowledge checks. This allows me to identify misconceptions immediately and adapt my teaching to meet the student's needs.
Consolidation
Students then strengthen their understanding through guided practice, worked examples, structured activities, and collaborative discussion. This stage helps learners organise and reinforce their knowledge while developing confidence in using key scientific terminology accurately.
Application
Students apply their learning through exam-style questions, data analysis, problem-solving tasks, practical scenarios, and real-world contexts. This phase develops higher-order thinking skills and prepares students for assessments while helping them understand how science operates beyond the classroom.
Exit Ticket
Each lesson concludes with a short exit ticket or reflection activity that allows students to demonstrate what they have learned. This may include a summary question, exam-style task, or self-assessment activity. The exit ticket helps identify any remaining gaps in understanding and informs the planning of future lessons.
Alongside this lesson structure, I place a strong emphasis on exam technique, scientific literacy, critical thinking, and independent learning skills. Students receive regular feedback and personalised support to help them make continuous progress and achieve their academic goals.
