About Robert
Rob is a warm and friendly tutor, but with a flair for excellent performance across all of his subject areas. He sees the science and maths in everyday situations and, usually, uses it to make his life better!
A working teacher, Rob is a head of physics at a large college and a governor at a high school. He knows both science AND education inside out, and is always working to give the best to his students and community. You will do better simply for talking to him!
Rob has a degree which covers Physics, Chemistry and Climate Science and loves seeing the bigger picture. He also worked as a volunteer ambulance crew whilst he was studying! Recently, he has completed a Masters Degree in Science Communication - so basically, he really knows his stuff!
Thanks to his experience of different universities and careers, Rob is also an expert on how to apply and succeed in these settings, and can offer advice to those feeling a little lost about what to do in their future. Just ask for some help!
Outside of education, Rob loves to travel, learn about foreign cultures, speak languages, and play music! He's also a sucker for mountain climbing, watersports, and anything involving snow...

Rob uses clear and simple language to make ideas stick. Sessions use a mixture of clear, memorable teaching slides, real exam problems, and personalised activities based on extensive teaching experience.
Rob is approachable, will listen to your needs, concerns and ambitions, and always make learning enjoyable - even when faced with exam pressure! As a learning expert, he understands that performance starts with your well-being, and devotes a lot of time to exam techniques to help you think clearly and calmly under pressure. There is an element of mindset and performance coaching to all sessions.
Generally, less confident students will need content taken back to basics and retaught in a way that suits them. Science relies on a lot of prior knowledge, so Rob takes time to ensure harder topics are built on sure foundations. This is the quick fix for most issues you might feel you have!
