About JOSHUA
I love English, and that is the simple reason as to why I want to teach it. But furthermore, I thoroughly understand its importance to young people. This is not only to pass their GCSEs (although of course that is why we are here), but because in the wider world it is of the utmost importance that young people understand how to communicate themselves, articulate their needs, and understand the world around them. English is the subject in which these skills are most robustly achieved. I am a relatively young teacher, and have been told by older colleagues that I have the enthusiasm, energy, commitment, and sense of humour required to keep young people interested and engaged. So my lessons are best suited for students aged 11-16 for UK schools. I have many person-centred approaches entirely dependent on the student - who they are, how they learn, and at what level they are accessing the material. I will discern this via a free online consultation with the student in which we will see how I can help them get the most progress out of our time working together. I have 7 years' experience studying at university level, and one year in a secondary school, in which I taught all ages and sets. I can also provide essay tutoring to undergraduates, I have a robust knowledge of all core subjects, with a specialisation in Romantic literature, George Orwell, and Rudyard Kipling
