About Emmet
I was born in Ireland and was sent to an Irish speaking school from the age of four. In secondary school I added French to my studies while learning Irish and English at the same time.
When it came time for me to study at university I chose to study history and archaeology before graduating and going on to study cultural heritage and GIS as a masters.
After my masters degree I became an archaeologist working in England. It was here, while working as a supervisor and teaching younger archaeologists the ropes, that I discovered my passion for teaching.
After much thought and consideration I decided to become an English teacher in Japan, a country I had visited many times in the past. I began to study Japanese as well so as you can see, I am no stranger to learning languages! I now work full time at an English conversation school teaching online and face to face lessons to people of all ages from infants to retirees.
Traveling and meeting people of different cultures is an absolute joy for me so please come and say hello!

As a teacher who got his start at the very beginning of the pandemic I have a lot of experience and am very comfortable teaching online.
I believe the key to tackling a new language is to be relaxed and have fun while doing so. With this in mind I often like to have the first lesson or two set aside for free conversation so that the student can get comfortable and gain valuable conversation practice. Following this, the student can request a lesson on a certain conversation topic or I can recommend a topic myself. It is entirely up to the student.
I am a full time English conversation teacher so you are in good hands when it comes to conversation practice. Please feel free to give my lessons a try!
