About Gurkiran
Before specialising in voice, I worked as a professional actor for 15 years. Having completed undergraduate, postgraduate, and acting programmes myself, I understand the demands of an actor and speaker.
As someone who is neurodivergent and lives with health conditions, the core of my work is to be holistically reachable. I value each individual’s unique requirements and work with flexibility and care.
My approach is accurate yet practical, offering simple and tangible methods for actors and clients. I aim to keep the work clear, grounded, and immediately usable.
I teach across drama schools, private practice, and professional productions, having coached on over 100 shows. I am also a Board Member of the Voice and Speech Trainers’ Association and have presented research and workshops internationally.
My style may seem simple at first, but it produces immediate, compelling, and often complex results. I believe humans are deliberately designed differently, and I find it both an honour and genuinely exciting to work with each individual. I may have taught an exercise thousands of times, but it is always the first time with the person in front of me.

“Is what I am trying to get you to understand landing with you as intended?” - That is communication.
We’ve been communicating since the beginning of time, even before speech. Humans are built to learn from the moment we are born, and the more comfortable we feel, the more confident and clear our communication becomes. Whether introverted or extroverted, new situations can affect us all — the key is learning how to redirect that energy so it works for us.
That is what I offer.
My approach is detailed, accurate, and practical. I draw on both contemporary training and ancient voice practices to support natural confidence and authentic communication. Sessions are tailored to the individual, using simple, tangible methods that are clear, accessible, and adaptable.
I have been teaching since 2005, working with a wide range of clients from infants to adults aged 70+. I hold a BA in Drama and Theatre Studies from Royal Holloway, University of London, trained as an actor at The Bridge Theatre Training Company, and hold an MA in Voice Studies from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
Sessions are 60 minutes (£125 online / £150 in person). I am based in London and work globally online, with flexible scheduling across time zones.

Gurkiran digs deep into the dialects so there is authenticity, especially with South Asian dialects which can often be portrayed generically. We met as actors on a project, so her training and experience has enabled her to fully nuance the voice. She is not just a dialect coach, she is a storyteller.
