About Joan
When I was in middle and high school I struggled with my math courses. Now I am a Ph.D. student in math focusing on quantum computing. Anyone can be good at math, and I want to help you develop the skills and strategies I have found effective in my schooling!

As your tutor, I will teach you the skills and habits that are necessary for success in any math subject. We will learn to analyze a problem, take good notes, and identify key information that we will need for the solution. We will learn to identify mistakes in your math, show clear work, and check your solutions.
I can tutor any and all math content from simplifying fractions to calculus in multiple dimensions. I can also tutor high school and university-level physics.
A typical session will focus on hands-on problem-solving. Rather than me talking at you for an hour - I prefer to give you an opportunity to discuss the areas you are struggling with and find strategies for your improvement that are interactive and engaging.
First, we will take a look at relevant homework or lessons you have been struggling with. Then we will work together on an example problem - here I will coach you on the core problem-solving skills you will need to develop in order to be successful in the future.
If you are stuck on a key concept or topic, I will happily talk you through the key ideas with examples and work with you until you are ready to move forward.
