About Nève

Hi! My name's Nève. I'm a first-year university student studying in Montreal. I'm fully bilingual in French and English, having attended an English primary school, a French High School, and a bilingual CEGEP and university. I'm also a part-time dance teacher, so I'm comfortable teaching a range of age groups, from 3 to 16 years old.

About the lesson

My approach:

I believe French sticks most when using different types of approaches. Not only applying French grammar and reading French, but practicing it regularly and just as much orally. Using a Frenglish (French and English) teaching style allows the student to get used to hearing and practicing their own French.

A typical lesson (60 min):

5–10 min: casual conversation to warm up
15 min: review of last session and any homework or school questions
20–25 min: the main topic (a grammar point, oral presentation prep, exam practice, writing correction…)
10 min: practice using what we just covered, then a short recap and a small task for next time

What sets me apart

I live in Montréal and use French every day as a native speaker, so I can teach both standard French and Québécois French. As a McGill student who went through CEGEP recently, I know exactly what high school French courses expect, and I remember what made learning hard. I’m patient, organized, and I make sure you leave every lesson able to say something you couldn’t before.
