About Natalie

Hello! I’m Natalie — a meticulous and passionate proofreader dedicated to helping writers communicate their ideas clearly, confidently, and professionally. With a Bachelor’s degree and a Graduate Certificate in Leadership, I bring not only a sharp eye for detail but also the organizational and communication skills needed to deliver polished, high-quality work. I specialize in refining grammar, style, and structure while preserving each writer’s unique voice. Whether I’m proofreading academic essays, professional documents, or creative writing, my goal is to ensure every piece reads smoothly, accurately, and with impact. What sets me apart is my commitment to precision and professionalism. I take pride in approaching every project with care, consistency, and respect for the writer’s intent. I believe that strong writing builds confidence—and that even small changes can make a big difference in how your message is received.

1. Analysis Phase (15–20 minutes)
Initial Review: The student shares a document they have recently written or proofread. The document's purpose, audience, and any specific concerns are briefly discussed.
Strengths and Weaknesses Assessment: A quick, focused review of a section of their work identifies recurring errors. This might be a pattern of comma splices, incorrect apostrophe usage, or formatting inconsistencies.
Goal Setting: A specific learning objective for the session is agreed upon based on the identified needs. For instance, if comma usage is a weakness, the goal is "to master the use of commas to separate independent clauses."
2. Targeted Instruction Phase (20–25 minutes)
Rule Reinforcement: Clear, concise explanations and visuals (such as a shared whiteboard or presentation slide) teach the relevant grammar or style rule. The "why" behind the rule is presented, not just the "what".
Modeling: The rule is applied to a few sentences or a short paragraph from the student's document, using a tool like Google Docs or Microsoft Word's "Track Changes" feature. The process is explained while explaining the reasoning.
Guided Practice: The student then takes the lead, applying the same rule to another section of their document. Supportive, real-time feedback is provided, and probing questions solidify understanding.
3. Collaborative Application and Expansion Phase (10–15 minutes)
Independent Application: The student proofreads a fresh, unedited passage independently while being observed silently.
Review and Feedback: The student's changes are reviewed together. Any mistakes are explained, and further clarification is offered.
Next Steps: How the student can continue practicing is discussed. A specific article might be suggested, focusing on a particular type of error in their own writing, or preparing a new document for the next session.
