About Joshua
My name is Joshua Urquhart, I am an actor and theatre studies graduate who has spent around 5 years developing skills in rhetoric, critical thinking, writing, and performance. Both of my parents are teachers and have instilled in me an appreciation for education and a willingness to help others who require extra help. I also have first hand experience with 1 on 1 tutoring as a pupil in secondary school, which gave me the much needed confidence to pursue a future in academia.

My approach allows students to find their own voice when it comes to essay writing, especially in the field of argumentative writing: helping them to confidentiality articulate their feelings is something I take pride in. I also work closely with the course curriculum, making sure we cover the areas which cause most stress for students at secondary school age. Finally, I’d be happy to guide students looking towards drama school as a next step and provide tutoring on how best to approach monologues, duologues, classical texts, and contemporary, etc.

I would highly recommend Josh as an English tutor. I have known him all his life and he has always had an inquisitive mind and enthusiasm for knowledge.
He is a kind and patient man who takes the time to explain and also listen. I first noticed this skill when as a boy he persuaded me to attend a Dr Who event hundreds of miles away and I had only ever watched one program on television, yet a day later I had a head full of knowledge and have now watched an entire series, that is down entirely to his motivational and creative approach.
His love and admiration for the written word is inspiring and when he is discussing a book, play or film he has enjoyed it is infectious.
Joshua inspired my interest in the arts, he is passionate and that transfers it to whomever he is around!
