About Harriet
My name is Harriet and I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of Bristol. I took the A levels Economics, History and Religious Studies where I achieved the grades of A*A*A. As I took all essay subjects, I saw the importance of structure in each of my A levels, particularly Economics, which is why I always take time to really go over this with students through exam questions. I am taking History at university, with many of my modules focusing on Economic History, and am also going to be taking a minor in Economics. Then, I will be hopefully pursuing a career in Finance or Insurance. I have previously tutored students in GCSE Maths and History and Year 12 and 13 students in A level Economics and then History, therefore enabling me to develop a strong ability to alter my methodology to suit individual students. Finally, I have a lot of experience with children, from setting up a Law society in Year 12, being elected as Head of Year 8 prefects in Year 13, being a Prep school debate judge and a peer mentor at my secondary school to volunteering at a charitable community project for children in Peru and working at a summer sports camp for 4 years.

I have already begun to tutor some Year 12 and 13 students in economics A level, which is my targeted range for tutoring, so I already have some experience. My methods focus on ensuring that the student understands the content inside and out, as knowledge marks are vital to achieving a high grade in economics A level. I will then move on to testing this knowledge with exam questions which help to build a pattern in the student's brain on how to answer certain questions, therefore building confidence in exam structure. Finally, at the end of every lesson we will answer short questions which can always involve a diagram, to ensure the student knows that knowledge marks can be gained from diagrams. Ideally, lessons would be no shorter than an hour, and can be between 1-2 hours, to ensure progress can be made.

Harriet tutored me from January 2025 to April 2025, in preparation for my end of year exams, where i was able to achieve an A in my exam. Harriet is a very patient and reliable tutor, where she is particuaurly good at breaking down complex concepts into much more approachable steps, an effective method in ensuring i would understand the information, combined with her using past paper questions a lot to ensure i properly understood. Her supportive approach builds confidence and her ability to adapt her teaching style to fit individual needs particularly benefitted me when i would struggle with individual topics.
