About Dominic
Four years of teaching singing runs alongside my work as a recording vocalist. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Music, and I spend time in studios most weeks singing for various projects. My students learn from current industry experience, not memories of it.
I am relaxed and playful in lessons. Recording can intimidate singers, so I make the microphone a familiar friend early. A student who froze at her first session recently completed lead vocals for an entire album of her band's songs.
Microphone technique, vocal layering and studio preparation are my specialties. I also teach the healthy technique that keeps voices consistent across long sessions. Singers leave my lessons studio ready in craft and confidence.

The studio microphone hears everything, including what live audiences forgive. My students learn mic distance, angle and how to sing intimately without losing pitch. Recording changes singers, and we train for that change deliberately.
Layering vocals is a craft of its own. We practise doubles, harmonies and ad libs that sit perfectly against a lead. A student building her first demo learned to stack backing vocals so cleanly that the producer asked who arranged them.
Pitch and timing standards rise in the studio. We record constantly in lessons and listen back with honest ears. Students learn to love the playback, because it teaches faster than any comment.
I keep sessions relaxed and creative. The studio should feel like play with purpose. Great vocal takes come from singers who feel safe.
