About David
Hello. I'm David and I'm an English Tutor in Stoke-on-Trent. I am providing tuition for adult learners of English as a foreign language and A-level English Literature and Language students.
Literature has been a longstanding passion of mine. This enthusiasm really helps me to make the subject come alive. I am currently completing a Masters in English studies through the University of Sheffield, as well as my TEFL qualification. As I am currently studying, I have access to a wide range of materials to aid students with literature comprehension.
My undergraduate degree was in Law and I obtained this from the University of Sheffield in 2011. My other academic passions include philosophy and history.
I want my students to find the material thought provoking and interesting. A non-pressurised environment is crucial to this. As someone who has benefited from tuition in the past, I know that the classroom can sometimes cause students to become disengaged from the material. My tuition aims to help students re-engage with the material, whilst always keeping the marking criteria in mind.
