About Sheila
I was a Chem teacher for 32 years. I have to admit that everyone did not always love chem but everyone that showed up and tried, passed. There is always a way to make it understandable. Frankly, trying to read about chemistry from a boring textbook is probably the worst way. Books have their place, but they are better suited to reference material. They are not great at creative explanations and they typically only have one approach. I have a seemingly endless supply of examples, diagrams, explanations and approaches that I have learned over 32 years of working with students.

Visualizing what is happening at the atomic level can be a real challenge. Chemistry is so much more than pushing numbers. Although there is a lot of math. I'm not going to lie. But being able to create an image with your mind's eye will make chemistry so much more enjoyable. I like to use analogies, real life examples, roleplaying and other techniques to help students "see" what is happening with the molecules. I am also very good at math so I can break it down into manageable pieces so students get overwhelmed with the math.
