About Maria Teresa
I have 32 years in the education field. As an English teacher I have taught Reading at the junior high school level and at the high school level, English I-IV. Every year I also sponsored UIL Literary Criticism and Spelling, competing and winning at the state level. For History, I taught American and World History. Additionally, I have a Master of Information Science (Library Science).

I have a low tolerance for laziness, inefficiency and dedication, but also require not only commitment and seriousness from the student, but just as importantly, from the parent(s). Neither do I find that poor supervision, lack of personal responsibility and flimsy excuses by parents a reason for lowering expectations.
This is all a preface to my belief that any student can learn, but he must want to. As a result, learning is much easier when a student is fully invested in his education with the understanding that a successful and satisfying future depends on it.
