About Alexandra
I am a graduate of North Carolina State University with a Master of Arts in English and a concentration in Rhetoric and Composition (2023). I have two Bachelor of Arts degrees, both of which are from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Theatre (2012) and English (2020). I minored in Rhetoric and Public Advocacy (2020) and hold a TESOL certification (2021). I am a lecturer at the University of California Santa Cruz in the Writing Program where I teach writing in different genres, academic writing, and research. I am a published researcher and educator in Composition and Writing Studies and I have been teaching rhetoric and writing for 5 years. In addition to teaching Academic Writing and English as a Second Language, I am also passionate about my research interests in indigenous studies and critical pedagogies as it pertains to Gen Z and Alpha writers.

My teaching method is collaborative. I will provide my students all the source material they need and then we talk about it. I am also flexible and willing to make adjustments to my student's needs. A typical lesson with me will focus on: the basics of rhetoric, writing in different genres, and learning academic writing and research best practices. I do not simply lecture, but use slides to convey information and then reinforce learning through various activities and discussions. My lessons are geared toward high school, undergraduate, and graduate level courses. However, these lessons can be modified for elementary and middle school students, as well.

I am willing to work with students on a sliding scale if $35/hr is inaccessible. Please send me a message and we can negotiate the rate. In addition, if you commit and book 10 sessions, I will give a 10% discount off my rate.
