About Madeline
I worked as a tutor for a grant-sponsored homework hotline free to the public during my four years attending engineering college. That time gave me a wide variety of calls and questions that I have in my experience, and I am eager to apply that to this platform. My performance reviews regularly highlighted my patience with the students, and commented on how I made sure that the student could solve problems similar on their own by the time my calls ended with no help from me but verifying they did it correctly at the end. I always look for feedback and constructive criticism, and strive for continuous improvement.

Being new to this platform, I want to stick with my past experience of assisting 6-12th grade and college freshman/sophomore students with math/science homework or study guides. As I become familiar with this platform I aim to work on developing lesson plans, personalized worksheets, and mock exams to help students achieve deeper understanding of the subject I am helping them in.
I alter my approach to meet each student’s needs and current abilities. I use metaphor and real-life examples whenever I can so the concepts have a connection to something the student is already familiar with.
Math can be intimidating, and bad past experiences can make that even worse. Sciences can be complicated, and lacking certain background information can leave a student lost without knowing why. My aim as a tutor is to help struggling students get past these and other barriers to achieve their desired level of mastery.
I recognize the stigma and emotional impact that struggling in these ‘core’ subjects can have, and will work with students to complete their work without being overwhelmed. As a tutor, I will be patient and thourough while addressing a student’s specific needs.
