About Rostislav
I’m a professional musician with over 10 years of performing experience.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Music Performance from Saint-Petersburg Conservatory and a Bachelor’s in Music Pedagogy from Kaliningrad Regional Music College.
For about 4 years, I played in the Saint-Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, where I had the chance to travel around the world and perform on different stages throughout Europe and China.
Additionally, I have played in woodwind quintets and various ensembles, which have given me extensive knowledge and understanding of woodwind repertoire from classical to modern.
As of now, I am an Associate Principal Bassoon at the Kindred Spirits Orchestra in Markham, Ontario
I’ve been teaching woodwind instruments to both children and adults for more than 5 years. Sharing the knowledge I have gained during my career and my passion for music with others is something I find very rewarding.

My lessons are always carefully thought out, planned and tailored to meet each student’s individual needs and abilities. I aim to create a fun, flexible and inclusive learning environment where every student can learn at their own pace.
In addition to the practical aspects of learning how to play an instrument, I also teach my students music theory. Music theory involves teaching how to read written music and how to understand time and rhythm in music.
During lessons, I also emphasize breathing, articulation, sound quality, and comfortable finger and embouchure techniques. I teach students to work on music material creatively and accurately.
