Lesson Title: Building Sentences with New Vocabulary

Objective: Students will be able to use new vocabulary words to construct grammatically correct sentences.

Materials Needed:

Word cards with new vocabulary words (e.g., happy, cat, run, big)
Sentence strips or sentence-building blocks
Whiteboard and markers
Lesson Duration: Approximately 45 minutes

Procedure:

Introduction (10 minutes):

Start by reviewing the previous lesson’s vocabulary if applicable.
Introduce today's new vocabulary words (happy, cat, run, big) using visual aids or gestures to help students understand the meanings.
Vocabulary Activity (10 minutes):

Show word cards with the new vocabulary words.
Pronounce each word clearly and have students repeat after you.
Use each word in a simple sentence and ask students to repeat the sentences after you.
Sentence Building (15 minutes):

Distribute sentence strips or sentence-building blocks.
Write one of the new vocabulary words on the board (e.g., "cat").
Ask students to form a sentence using that word (e.g., "The cat is big.").
Encourage students to use other vocabulary words they've learned to expand their sentences (e.g., "The big cat can run fast.").
Guided Practice (10 minutes):

Write a simple sentence on the board using one of the new vocabulary words (e.g., "I am happy.").
Ask students to identify the parts of the sentence (subject and predicate).
Discuss the structure of the sentence (capitalization, punctuation).
Write a few more sentences together, gradually incorporating more of the new vocabulary words.
Application Activity (10 minutes):

Divide students into pairs or small groups.
Give each group a set of word cards and sentence strips.
Ask them to work together to create sentences using the word cards. Encourage creativity and correct grammar.
Wrap-Up (5 minutes):

Review the sentences created by each group. Correct any grammar mistakes as a class.
Summarize what students have learned about using new vocabulary words to form sentences.
Assessment:

Monitor students during the sentence-building activities to ensure they are using the new vocabulary correctly and constructing grammatically sound sentences.
Extension Activity (Optional):

Ask students to illustrate one of the sentences they created to reinforce comprehension and creativity.
