About Jordan
I have been working as an LSA at London Nautical School since September 2020. In this role, I plan and deliver small group/one-to-one interventions with children who have autistic spectrum disorder and special educational needs. This includes personalised lessons in numeracy, literacy, and social skills. I also support key students in mainstream lessons, breaking down tasks given by the teacher into easy-to-follow instructions, and look out for the pupils' best interests in day-to-day life.
Previous experience includes giving numerous talks during my academic career, most recently as an MSc Student Ambassador for Christophe Eizaguirre, giving a ten-minute talk on the Masters, and my project to new MSc students.
In 2019 I helped manage a stall at the "Festival of Communities", an educational event for the local families in Stepney Green, where I designed and ran a game explaining the importance of the translocation of turtle nests.
In Cape Verde, I conducted a beach clean-up with the local children, and ran colouring workshop with some of the younger kids, putting a positive focus on the environment.
While completing my degrees, I volunteered over 50 hours of mentoring for the charity ReachOut, where I would spend two hours a week working with underprivileged children on their academic and personal skills. In 2018, we won the best project in London, as voted for by the students.

I engage my students by determining the needs of the individual I'm working with and differentiating my lessons accordingly. My strong academic background helps in knowing exactly what it is that teachers want to hear. I believe strongly in a "do-to-learn" methodology, and where gaps in knowledge arise, I'm able to break down the task at hand into simple and easy-to-follow steps.
My 1:1 lessons often involve fun starting activities/games, 5-10 minutes of taught lesson, where key principals are focused on and guided activities, such as questions or past papers for the rest of the lesson. I think it's important to show students that they often see as difficult or scary, is far easier then previous teachers have led them to believe.
