About Sofía
I have tutored since adolescence, I worked in an institute of distance education called The Launch Pad in Santa Ana, Costa Rica. This institute served as an alternative for students who could not attend school in the traditional way. For example, I had a student who was high performance athlete. Another of my students had an attention deficit. Both managed to successfully graduate. In my work, I am preparing academic content as any school teacher, but my approach is personalized and meets the needs of each student. We could summarize my job as a tutor in these vignettes: • Research, preparation and organization of academic content. • Providing lessons, classes, activities and assessments in different subjects for teenage students who were part of the program of Homeschooling. • tutoring and guidance to guide students toward personal and academic growth.

I focus my classes to learn to think in the new language, which is necessary to learn. Translating from one language to another is not efficient communication. In my method is the use of grammatical formulas, but much more important is the conversation, learning idioms and ironies, cultural immersion and audiovisual resources.
