About Sydney
I'm Sydney, and I recently moved to South Carolina with my fiancé back to his own town. Teaching is my calling, and I went to school for business and then realized my real place is in the classroom.
What inspired me to be a teacher was my 4th and 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Schneider. She believed in me and put me into the advanced math class at my school. I was then able to proceed at a higher rate through math than most of my peers throughout school.
My goal is to help my students succeed and close the gaps in education in the mathematical basics. I specialize in fractions and decimals, especially helping my students not be intimidated by them anymore.

I am a certified teacher in the states of Florida and South Carolina. I am certified to teach middle school math.
I like to be firm but caring in my teaching approach. I embrace the productive struggle of my students. I give them room to think critically and solve problems on their own.
I am going into my second year as a teacher and I have experience teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math. My first year as a teacher I was teaching all middle school grade levels and my students were still able to stay on track with the school and the district for their understanding of the subjects.
18% of my students last year jumped up a level from the beginning of the school year to the end. The other 82% of students were able to show growth within their levels.
I am able to provide copies of my teaching certificate upon request.
