*FIRST SESSION FREE* Work and pace are specific to student's abilities. Credentials: 99% in high school English, supplementary application gained entrance into a program with a 3% acceptance rate. English Language: Focus on creating worksheets and texts that are within the student's capabilities, and practice grammar and oral skills together. Teaching students skills like how to infer, and associate connections with vocabulary learning with the environment around us. Writing: Focuses on the different aspects of general writing, including transitions into sentences, sentence elements, punctuation, and ensuring sentences make grammatical sense. Putting together words starts with examples, then transitions into student efforts. Creative Writing: Creative writing is recursive, not linear. Starting by exploring the different aspects of creative writing (paradox, juxtaposition, symbolism, foreshadowing, elements/stages of a story) is the introduction. Essay writing involves my personal essay examples, and examples of ways to let creativity show, such as essay structure, captivating the reader, perspective switches, and focusing on how to let your voice shine through text (animated writing). For school assignments, we edit and work through the piece together (I edit outside of classes as well if needed). TYPICAL LESSON PLAN: - take up any homework / pending questions first - tackle the subject of the session with a small activity first - teach with breaks where the student regurgitates information to me (active recall) to ensure a clear understanding before moving forward. - in English language tutoring, we practice with conversations centered around real-life scenarios - share google drive for session notes / homework created by me, and other resources for learning - set up work / vocabular flash cards created by me that the student must revise to ensure proper recall of important information I encourage open communication for any last-minute help and am available for follow-up questions throughout the week.
